Weekday mornings in my kitchen can be frantic. To help breakfast go smoothly, we keep it simple with cereal or warm oatmeal with berries. When the weekend eventually comes around, we tend to spend a little more time and love on breakfast. The kids help make pancakes or waffles, and we always try to incorporate a protein, like egg or breakfast sausage. This breakfast doughnut is a guaranteed way to get everyone talking and it tastes so good!
The “sandwich” is actually made using Grands Biscuits, which make the best doughnuts ever, in my opinion. Lay the biscuits out on a work surface. Punch a one inch hole in the middle of each one. If you don’t have a cutter, try using cap from a bottle to punch out the center hole.
Once the biscuits have been fried and cooled, cut them in half.
Place an egg on top of each bottom half of the biscuits.
Place one slice of cheese on top of each egg.
Finally lay your bacon slices on top of the cheese, followed by the top part of each cut biscuit. I used turkey bacon but you could use regular bacon, too. You could even try sausage patties. It’s nice to splurge a little on the weekend!
Glaze each doughnut with the powdered sugar mixture and serve at once.
