Expert Tips

Don't have sliced mushrooms? Any type of mushrooms can be used.

Panko bread crumbs are used a lot in Japanese cooking for coating fried foods because they are coarser in texture and create a delicious crunchy topping.

I like using frozen green beans, a dash or two of soy sauce and to make it creamier I add a can of evaporated milk, plus add black pepper.

I used diced, crisply cooked bacon in place of the pimento. It was awesome!

To baker79, instead of wine maybe you could use chicken broth.

I don't use wine. What could I use in the place of it?

Use cream of celery soup for a less sodium. Toss the panko and butter with some sauteed chopped onion.
