What is White Chicken Pizza?

Rather than using red sauce as the base for pizza, this flavor-packed recipe starts with alfredo sauce. Garlic butter is brushed over the crust before it gets a par bake. Red onion and Italian cheese blend top the pizza, along with the cooked chicken, to bake all bubbly in the oven. Then the white sauce chicken pizza is finished with fresh baby arugula and our own super simple hot honey.

How Can I Serve This Pizza?

Chicken pizza with white sauce is an easy and delicious weeknight dinner. Serve it with crisp sliced cucumbers, bright orange carrot sticks and cherry tomatoes with hummus to dip them, for a wonderful meal.

Ingredients

Pizza

  • 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup Alfredo pasta sauce (from 15-oz jar)
  • 1 cup cubed cooked chicken
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend (6 oz)
  • 1 cup baby arugula leaves

Hot Honey

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 425°F (400°F for dark or nonstick pans or cookie sheets). Spray 15x10x1-inch pan or large cookie sheet with cooking spray. Unroll dough in pan; starting at center, press dough into 15x10-inch rectangle.
  • 2
In small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush dough with butter mixture. Bake 8 minutes. Spread Alfredo sauce evenly over dough. Top with chicken, onion and cheese.
  • 3
Bake 6 to 10 minutes or until bottom of crust is golden brown. Top with arugula. Cut in half lengthwise, then cut in thirds crosswise. Cut each piece diagonally.
  • 4
Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix Hot Honey ingredients. Microwave uncovered on High 1 minute; cool slightly. Serve pizza with Hot Honey.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
You can press out the dough with your hands or a rolling pin into the 15x10-inch rectangle. This pizza is flat—you don’t need to build up the edges.
  • tip 2
We found in testing, that par baking the crust before adding the toppings ensures the crust will be baked through.
  • tip 3
If you like, transfer the baked pizza to a cutting board to cut it into slices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my pizza crust keep springing back?

If your pizza dough keeps springing back while making the white chicken pizza, let it sit for a minute and try again. Sometimes cold pizza crust gets cranky and wants to keep its original shape!

Why does pizza crust stick to the cookie sheet?

Leave the pizza crust in the refrigerator until just before you’re ready to press or roll it out. It won’t stick to the cookie sheet if it’s cold.
