Summertime is here and, for my family, that means juicy bacon cheeseburgers. There are a few things that are necessary to make a great bacon cheeseburger. A nice piece of cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and a nice toasty bun! I thought it would be fun to swap out traditional buns and turn Pillsbury Grands! Flaky Layers biscuits into golden, toasty waffle buns! They turned out so yummy; my entire family gobbled them up in no time.
Start by preheating your waffle iron to a medium-high setting. Spray a non-stick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Meanwhile, shape and bake 8 burgers in a skillet or on the grill. While your hamburgers are cooking, start cooking your waffle buns! Remove the dough from can. Separate each biscuit into 2 layers.
Place one layer of dough onto the waffle iron. Close lid and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat process with remaining dough.
Once waffle buns are cooked, take one baked biscuit waffle, or “bun” and top it with a cooked hamburger patty, once slice of cheese, and one piece of bacon. Top with another waffle bun. Enjoy!
