Ingredients

Steps

  • 1
Spray 5.8-quart or larger air fryer basket with cooking spray. Unroll pizza crust. Using pizza cutter or knife, cut crust in half lengthwise, then in sixths crosswise to form 12 rectangles.
  • 2
On center of each rectangle, place 2 slices pepperoni (4 halves), 1 teaspoon pizza sauce and 1 piece string cheese. Fold crust over filling, and firmly pinch edges to seal.
  • 3
Place seam-side down in air fryer basket. Brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.
  • 4
Set air fryer to 325°F; cook 7 to 9 minutes or until top of dough is golden brown. Using tongs, carefully turn pizza balls.
  • 5
Cook 4 to 6 minutes longer or until top of dough is golden brown. Remove from air fryer using tongs.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
Cutting the pepperoni slices in half makes it easier to enclose them in the dough. Layering pepperoni, followed by sauce, then cheese prevents the dough from getting soggy from the sauce and makes the air fryer pizza balls easier to pinch closed.
  • tip 2
If desired, serve air fryer pizza dough balls with additional warmed pizza sauce.
  • tip 3
Air fryer temperature control settings vary according to brand and model. If your air fryer does not have the exact temperature setting called for in the recipe, consult your manual for suggested temperature settings. Our recipes do not call for preheating your air fryer. Just set the temperature, and start.
  • tip 4
If you don’t have a 5.8-quart or larger air fryer, you can use a 3.7- to 4-quart air fryer and cook the pizza balls in two batches. Follow the same instructions, but only cook 6 pizza balls at a time. Making the air fryer pizza balls in batches gives enough space for each one to cook without touching, allowing each pizza ball to cook through to golden brown goodness. Be sure to cook them in a single layer, spaced apart, with enough room to turn them over.
