Let’s play a game of word association: “Sloppy Joe.” Go.
I hate to say it, but my knee-jerk reaction is a little bit of an internal cringe. I immediately revert to memories of cafeteria lines and feeling jealous of all my friends who had pretty little packed lunches (I was a hot-lunch latchkey kid). Unsurprisingly, sloppy Joes weren’t too flavorful at my school cafeteria. They meant bland, saucy, mystery meat spilling out between two pieces of dry buns.
But lately I’ve been hearing the term “sloppy Joe” tossed around during meetings at work and in conversations within my circle of moms. It makes me think twice about the dish I envision from childhood. Am I missing out on something by not incorporating this classic sandwich in my weeknight dinner rotation? I started searching around, and you guys – I stumbled upon a gaggle of refreshed sloppy Joe recipes that made my jaw drop. There’s no doubt about it, I’m trying these at home.
Grands! Unsloppy Joes
Hi easy, filling dinner. These Grands! Unsloppy Joes can do no wrong. Thanks to my 3-year-old son, my walls are covered with little fingerprints, and there’s a permanent thin layer of food scraps around all the furniture. So anything coined “unsloppy” is a welcome guest in our home.
