Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened*
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • Few drops red or green food color, if desired
  • decorating decors and colored sugars, if desired

Steps

    Heat oven to 400°F. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until well blended. Stir in flour, salt, almond extract, egg and food color until dough forms.

    Fit desired template in cookie press; fill cookie press with dough. Force dough through template onto ungreased cookies sheets. Sprinkle with decors or sugars.

    Bake 6 to 9 minutes or until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.
