Pizzazzy Sausage Crescent Sandwiches
An easy-to-assemble version of Italian calzones, these flavorful sandwiches are a great soup go-along or game-time snack.
Pizzazzy Sausage Crescent Sandwiches

Ingredients
- 1 lb bulk Italian or pork sausage
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper (1/2 medium)
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
- 2 cans (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 2 cans (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
- 4 slices (3/4 oz each) mozzarella cheese, cut in half crosswise, folded
Instructions

Step1Heat oven to 375°F. In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage, bell pepper and onion over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until sausage is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain. Stir in 3 tablespoons of the pizza sauce.

Step2If using crescent rolls: Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 8 rectangles. Firmly press perforations to seal. If using dough sheets: Unroll both cans of dough; cut into total of 8 rectangles.

Step3Place about 1/4 cup sausage mixture and folded 1/2 slice of cheese on one end of each rectangle. Fold dough in half over filling; press edges with fork to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Step4Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Meanwhile, heat remaining pizza sauce. Immediately remove sandwiches from cookie sheet. Serve warm with warm pizza sauce.
