These flaky crescents, filled with a tangy barbecue chicken filling that's now creamier than ever, are delicious as a main course or as an appetizer at your next soiree! For a complete meal, we've updated this recipe to include a side of green beans. If you're serving these as an appetizer, feel free to leave off the green beans. Kids and grown-ups alike will love the fun of finger food at the dinner table. Ready in just 40 minutes, it’s an easy win for entertaining or a family night at home.

Recipe Ingredients

Look below for everything you’ll need to make these BBQ Chicken Crescents with Roasted Green Beans.

Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls: We’ve only tested with the original variety–that’s what we recommend using.

Chicken: Any shredded chicken will work—even canned if you have that on hand. We like to shred a rotisserie chicken for the freshest flavor.

Barbeque Sauce: Customize this recipe by using your favorite sauce. Be mindful of spice level depending on your diners.

Pepper Jack: Pepper Jack has great flavor, but replace with Monterey Jack or cheddar if you’re sensitive to spice.

Green Beans: You can find a bag of pre-prepped green beans in most produce sections. What a timesaver! Just dump the bag onto the sheet pan and season.

Crispy Fried Onions: Find these with the canned vegetables or condiments. They give the simple green beans a crunchy, oniony pop of flavor.

Other Ingredients You’ll Need: Egg, olive oil, salt, garlic powder, cream cheese.

How to Make BBQ Chicken Crescents with Roasted Green Beans

Here’s how to make these BBQ Chicken Crescents with Roasted Green Beans.

1. Make the Filling

Mix together the chicken, barbecue sauce, cream cheese, and pepper Jack until well combined.

2. Roll Up the Crescents

Pop open the can and separate the crescents. Mound 2 tablespoons of filling onto the wide end of each triangle and roll up according to package directions. Place the rolls on one half of the sheet pan.

3. Prep the Beans

On the other half of the sheet pan, add the green beans. Toss with oil and season with salt and garlic powder.

4. Bake and Serve

Bake until the crescents are golden brown and baked through, and the beans are tender. Sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the beans and serve alongside the crescents.

How to Store (and Reheat) BBQ Chicken Crescents with Roasted Green Beans

If you have any leftover BBQ chicken crescents or beans, here’s how to store and reheat them.

Refrigerator

Refrigerate any leftover crescents or beans separately, in an airtight food storage container or resealable food-storage plastic bag for 3 to 4 days.

Freezer

We don’t recommend storing these crescents in the freezer since the crescent dough can become soggy when reheated.

Reheating

To reheat refrigerated crescents and/or beans, transfer to a foil-lined baking sheet, and heat in a 350°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until the middle of the crescent is at least 165°F (use a food thermometer). If the crescents become too brown during reheating, tent them with foil.

BBQ Chicken Crescents Variations

BBQ Chicken Crescents with Roasted Green Beans make a fun and filling dinner, but you can easily serve the crescents on their own as an appetizer.

Serve As an Appetizer: To serve these as an appetizer without the green beans, follow the recipe as written to make the filling and wrap the crescents. Distribute the crescents over the whole sheet pan instead of just half, then skip Step 4 and bake as directed. Your guests will be overjoyed!
