Everyone’s Favorite App: Gooey, Melty Baked Cheese

Created December 8, 2016
Crescent Wrapped Baby Cheeses
Sweet dreams are made of cheese: Put your own (surprisingly easy!) spin on tradition with new ways to serve party classic baked Brie.

Step 1: Pick Your Size

It’s a delicious dilemma to have: Do you make one giant, melty baked cheese app that everyone can share, or whip up a batch of ultra-dippable, personal-sized mini cheeses? (Trick question: You can totally make both.)

You can’t go wrong with the original Crescent-Wrapped Brie:

Baked Brie

Forget high-maintenance sheets of puff pastry—classic baked Brie is infinitely easier to make (and less messy) when wrapped inside a buttery crescent. Brush with a quick egg wash for an extra-golden finish, and serve with apple slice dippers and a sauce on the side. The hardest part of making this easy app is not eating more than your fair share in front of everyone you know.

But on the other hand, everything is cuter when you make it mini! Just look at these little guys:

Crescent Wrapped Baby Cheeses

What superhuman can resist what is basically the classiest plate of cheese curds you’ll ever enjoy? They’re easier to pick up, dip and devour; plus, when everyone gets their own plate of mini baked cheeses, you don’t have to worry about whether you’re hogging the whole wheel of cheese.

Step 2: Add a 2-Ingredient Topping

Make it classic or make it mini, then make it extra-special with couldn’t-be-easier topping ideas. Spoon or drizzle these quick sauces over servings of full-sized crescent-wrapped Brie, or dip and dunk your minis to your heart’s content.

Apple jelly, Dijon mustard

Topping Idea 1: Apple + Dijon

Take a note from the classic apple serving companion. Microwave ½ cup apple jelly 30 seconds to 1 minute until liquefied. Stir in 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard.

Pecans Maple Syrup

Topping Idea 2: Maple Syrup + Pecans

Go sweet! Mix together 1 cup maple syrup with ½ cup pecan halves. Add a dash of nutmeg if you’re feeling spicy.

Raspberry jam, whole grain mustard

Topping Idea 3: Raspberry + Mustard

This sweet and nutty combo is a little unexpected, but really delicious. Microwave ¼ cup raspberry jam 30 seconds to 1 minute until liquefied. Mix in 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard.
