Our pizza recipes are especially easy because they start with Pillsbury™ pizza dough, but there are some things you should keep in mind when topping your pizza and prepping it for the oven.
When it comes to cheese, the best cheese to put on top of your pizza is one that melts easily. This is why mozzarella is such a popular cheese on pizza. Many pizzas will use a mixture of mozzarella and provolone for more flavor. If you want to make a fancier, richer pizza, try using Gouda, goat cheese or Gruyère cheese. You can use Parmesan cheese after your pizza is done baking, if you wish! (Parm loses its flavor when baked, so it’s best served sprinkled on top before eating.)
When it comes to the other toppings, it may be tempting to go wild with all of your favorite ingredients, but less is more. If you put too many toppings on your pizza, it will prevent the crust from baking evenly, and the bottom will be soggy rather than crispy.
