This woven blanket of hot dogs and crescent dough may look complicated to create, but we’re here to tell you it’s easy as pie! Lattice top pie, that is. Two cans of crescent sheets and a couple packs of hot dogs is all you need to create this impressive-looking masterpiece. It’s stunning enough to serve at a dinner party, but so craveable it’ll fit right into a casual spread of tailgating foods. We’ve suggested a seedy everything-bagel topping to make this really special, but it shines on its own. Serve it with ketchup or mustard to dip.

Recipe Ingredients

Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll need make this Hot Dog Quilt.

Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet: You’ll need 2 cans of crescent sheets for this recipe—one acts as the flat base of the quilt, while one is sliced into strips to weave the hot dogs into a quilt.

Bun-Length Beef Franks: Even with bun-length hot dogs, the franks may not be long enough to span the width of the dough base. We suggest having 20 hot dogs on hand so you can use about 12 whole hot dogs in the quilt, and slice the remaining hot dogs to increase the length of the dogs in the quilt.

Everything Bagel Seasoning: This seasoning mix is widely available and very versatile. When you’re done using it in this recipe, use it to top salads, avocado toast, etc.

Other Ingredients You’ll Need: Butter, ketchup or mustard for dipping.

How to Make Hot Dog Quilt

Here’s how to make Hot Dog Quilt. Follow the recipe for more!

1. Prep the Dough

Lay one dough sheet flat on a sheet pan. Slice the other lengthwise into 6 long strips, and lay the strips over the first sheet like you’re piecing it back together.

2. Weave the Quilt

Pull back every other dough strip and place a hot dog over the strips that are still laying flat. Take the strips that you pulled back and lay them back over the dog. Fold back the opposite strips, lay another dog, and repeat until you reach the end of the dough base. If the dogs need a bit more length, slice off the top of an extra hot dog to elongate.

3. Season

Brush the quilt with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning, then bake until puffy and toasted. Slice and serve with your favorite dips!

How to Store (and Reheat) Hot Dog Quilt

If you have any leftovers, here’s how to store and reheat them.

Refrigerator

Transfer any leftover Hot Dog Quilt into an airtight food storage container or zip top food storage bag. Store in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

Freezer

We don’t recommend freezing the Hot Dog Quilt since the crescents can take on too much moisture and become soggy.

Reheating

To reheat, transfer quilt to a baking pan and cover lightly with foil. Heat in a 350°F oven for 10-15 minutes, or until heated to at least 165° in the center of a hot dog (use a food thermometer).
