Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled, pitted and cut up
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 Italian plum tomato, chopped (1/4 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 4 oz. blue tortilla chips

Steps

    In food processor bowl with metal blade or blender container, combine avocados, onions, salt, garlic powder, lime juice and hot pepper sauce; process until smooth.

    Spoon mixture into serving dish. Sprinkle with tomato and cilantro. Serve with tortilla chips.

    For guacamole, choose ripe avocados that yield to gentle pressure. Firm avocados will ripen when stored in a brown paper bag for one or two days. Blue corn chips, made from blue cornmeal, are stocked in the snack chip section of the grocery store. White or yellow corn chips can be used in place of the blue chips.
