Wonderful meatless side dish ready in 30 minutes! Enjoy this green beans and mushrooms sprinkled with bread crumbs.

Crumb-Topped Green Beans and Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 1 (1-lb.) pkg. frozen cut green beans, thawed*
  • 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped shallots or onion
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, if desired
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper, if desired
  • 1 tablespoon margarine or butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh white bread crumbs**
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

Instructions

  • Step

    In large nonstick skillet, combine green beans, mushrooms, shallots and water; cook over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender and liquid evaporates. Stir in salt and pepper. Spoon into serving dish; cover to keep warm.

    In same skillet, melt margarine in oil. Add bread crumbs and basil; cook and stir over medium-high heat until light brown. Sprinkle over vegetables.
