Ingredients

Cookies

Decorations, as desired

  • Assorted cookie icings
  • Assorted candies, sprinkles and decorating sugars

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, crumble cookie dough, and add flour, kneading until well blended. (DO NOT EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH AFTER COMBINING WITH FLOUR.)
  • 2
On floured surface, roll dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut shapes with floured 3 1/2- to 4-inch sweater-shaped cookie cutter. On ungreased cookie sheets, place cutouts at least 2 inches apart. Reroll dough, and cut additional cutouts.
  • 3
Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Cool completely.
  • 4
Using photo as a guide, decorate cookies. Let stand at least 30 minutes until set.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
For best results, bake cookies one sheet at a time in center of oven.
  • tip 2
It’s helpful to pipe a border of cookie icing around edges of cookies before icing the rest of the surface to keep icing from sliding off sides.
  • tip 3
Decorate these fun sugar cookies with cookie icing, decorating candy decors, miniature candy-coated chocolate candies, sprinkles, colored decorating sugars or nonpareils and more! Cookie icing is sold in pouches and can be found in the baking aisle of the grocery store.
  • tip 4
Be sure to work quickly when adding decorations, as icing sets quickly.
  • tip 5
Have an ugly Christmas sweater cookie decorating party (while wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, of course). Vote for your favorite cookie and award a prize, or enjoy your cookie as your prize!
