slices pumpernickel rye bread

Fresh dill, if desired

Steps

  • 1 In small bowl, combine cream cheese, chopped dill and lemon peel; mix well.
  • 2 Spread cream cheese mixture evenly on slices of bread. Layer with cucumber slices and salmon. Garnish with fresh dill.

Expert Tips

One-half teaspoon of dried dill weed can be used in place of the fresh dill.

These open-faced sandwiches make great appetizers. Prepare Dilly Smoked Salmon Snacks on 16 slices of cocktail rye slices, place them on a baking sheet and bake them in a 350°F. oven for 5 minutes or until they are crisp, turning once.
