Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 4 slices (3/4 oz each) American cheese, each cut into 6 strips
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Corn Dog Wraps (8 Count)

Steps

  • 1
Heat gas or charcoal grill for indirect cooking over medium heat (about 350°F). Pat hot dogs dry. Slit hot dogs to within 1/2 inch of ends. Insert 3 strips of cheese into each slit.
  • 2
Separate dough into 8 rectangles. Wrap 1 dough rectangle around each hot dog; press dough to seal.
  • 3
Place corn dogs, seam-side down, on double thickness of heavy-duty foil sprayed with cooking spray, about 2 inches apart. Place foil on grill over indirect heat; cover. Cook 21 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
We tested these with regular and bun-length hot dogs. Both sizes work well, so feel free to use whatever you have on hand.
  • tip 2
There’s no need to turn the corn dogs, since they’re basically baking on the grill. Don’t cover with foil or pull up the sides of the foil while grilling. The foil is used as a disposable cookie sheet. Place foil on unrimmed baking sheet or cutting board to easily transfer to the grill.
  • tip 3
Indirect heat grilling essentially turns your grill into an oven. Heat one side of the grill, and place food on the opposite side. Since this method is closer to baking than traditional grilling, avoid opening your grill too often during cooking, as this will let heat escape.
