Have apples fresh from the orchard? Make this warm, spiced apple dip - a perfect appetizer when served with pita chips or spread on crackers.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups finely chopped peeled Granny Smith apples (about 2 medium)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • Cinnamon-sugar pita chips, if desired

Steps

    In 3-quart saucepan, mix apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and cinnamon. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat; boil 1 minute or until thickened, stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat; stir in butter until melted. Serve warm or cool with pita chips.
