Apple and Sausage Mini Hand Pies

These sweet and savory hand pies make a great on-the-go breakfast.

lb bulk pork sausage
1/2
cup chopped apple
1/4
cup chopped celery
1/4
cup chopped onion

can (12 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Jr. Golden Layers® refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Steps

  • 1 Heat oven to 400°F. In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage, apple, celery and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain.
  • 2 Roll each biscuit into 4 1/2- to 5-inch round. Spoon about 2 tablespoons sausage mixture on half of each round. Fold other half over filling; press edges with fingers or fork to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 3 Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Expert Tips

Any flavor of sausage can be used, such as maple, sage or mild Italian.

After hand pies come out of the oven, brush with melted butter, if desired.
