I was looking for an apple pie empanada recipe and came upon this one. If I can't find the frozen apples, I plan on getting the canned filling and cutting the apples into smaller pieces. I am going to use 2 boxes of pillsbury pie crusts, use my 3.5 inch circle cookie cutter and cut out as many circles as I can from the crusts. I am going to spoon a small amount of the filling onto each circle, fold it over and seal. Then I will continue with step 2 and 3 of this recipe. Going to do this for our Christmas dessert:) Wish me luck;)

I have made this pie twice now and it is so easy. This time I substituted the sugar with Truvia, the baking blend, and it worked GREAT! I am recommending this to everyone. I am a diabetic and this is perfect. It does have a little sugar in the Truvia Baking Blend, but it is still better than using 100% sugar. The sugar content is less than one gram and 75% fewer calories. All in all 2 thumbs up, but make sure there isn't any apple still on it!

This was an easy and quick apple pie. I used 4 Grannny Smith apples and doubled the recipe and used both pie crust. Didn't think to sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top. But will definately make this again.

Just to answer some of your questions. If you cant find the apple side dishes. Use Wilderness Pioe filling or make your own. I use 3 Golden Dwlicious apples 1/4 c white sugar 2 Tbls of brown sugar,2 TBLs flour to thicken, 1 tsp cinamon and 1/4 tsp nutmegs. They are delious and also if u cut the crusts in 4 pieces, just put filling on half and fold over. Everyone grets their own pie that way and you don't have to worry about cutr edges. EAT LIKE TURNOVERS.

This dessert is so easy, you can make it while your guests are ringing your doorbell! I did not have apple filling so I used cherry. It was delicious
