Beef Brisket with Cranberry Gravy

Come home to a luscious beef brisket, slow cooked in a cranberry gravy.

lb fresh beef brisket (not corned beef)
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4
teaspoon pepper

can (16 oz) whole berry cranberry sauce
1
can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1/2
cup chopped onion
1
tablespoon yellow mustard

Steps

  • 1 Rub surface of beef brisket with salt and pepper. In 4- to 5-quart slow cooker, place beef. In small bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Pour over beef.
  • 2 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • 3 Remove beef from slow cooker. Cut beef across grain into thin slices. If desired, skim fat from cranberry sauce in slow cooker. Serve beef with sauce.

Expert Tips

Whole berry cranberry sauce looks especially pretty in this dish, but you can also use a can of jellied cranberries with equally delicious results.
