You can almost hear the singing from these heavenly holiday cookies. Make it simple with no cookie cutters!

Ingredients

roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated sugar cookies
1 1/4
cups fluffy white whipped ready-to-spread frosting (from 12-oz container)
Blue and white sugars, if desired
Red decorating gel, if desired
Yellow decorating icing (or other colors as desired)
Small candy decorations, if desired

Steps

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Cut chilled dough into 30 slices, about 1/4 inch each.
  • 2 With 24 of the slices, cut 2 narrow strips from sides of each slice, leaving a triangle for body (see illustration). Place 2 strips on each side of top point of triangle, curved edges down, for wings. Cut 6 slices into quarters. Roll 1 of the quarter slices into ball; flatten slightly and place at top of triangle for head. On ungreased cookie sheets, place angels 2 inches apart.
  • 3 Bake 7 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; carefully remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes. Spread frosting on cooled cookies. Decorate as desired with remaining ingredients.

Expert Tips

Put a few tablespoons of frosting into a resealable plastic bag. Cut a tiny corner off, and squeeze frosting out to make curls.
