If I had things my way, we’d be able to enjoy an international sporting event every single year. Although I have a hard time deciding whether I love watching them more in the winter or summer, I think winter takes the cake simply because it breaks up the cold-weather blahs and gives me something to look forward to since football season’s wrapping up.

During the two-week run of the event, my husband and I have made it a tradition to open our house to friends for casual viewing parties at least a couple times. Since we never know when people are going to swing by, I’m keeping my menu simple this year and utilizing my slow cooker. Here’s a look at what’s going to be served at our party.

STARTER

Gluten Free Bacon Cheese Appetizer Squares

It’s never easy to please everyone at a party. But since some of my friends are eating gluten-free, I like to have an option for them on the table. These Gluten Free Bacon Cheese Appetizer Squares can be pulled together quickly and require only a handful of ingredients. Major win!

DINNER

Slow Cooker Mexican Burrito Bowls
Whenever I have a group over to watch a sporting event, I like to prepare a slow-cooker main dish so guests can help themselves whenever they get hungry. It also spares me from having to worry about keeping food hot or laboring away in the kitchen. These Slow Cooker Mexican Pork Burrito Bowls have just the right amount of heat and taste great on top of rice or served inside taco shells. You can’t go wrong!

DESSERT

Marshmallow-Lemon Snowdrifts
For dessert, I’m totally serving these Marshmallow-Lemon Snowdrifts. I love the snowy, wintry look of these cookies and think they’re the perfect sweet note to end on. I’m thinking of swapping out the lemon curd for blueberry and strawberry preserves to play up the red, white and blue theme. For more food ideas for your viewing party, check out these suggestions.
