box Pillsbury® refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box

Pillsbury® Ready to Bake!® refrigerated sugar cookies (from 16-oz package)

Betty Crocker® Fruit Gushers® fruit snacks, strawberry flavored

teaspoon sugar
1/2
cup powdered sugar, optional
3
to 4 teaspoons of milk, optional

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 450°F. Remove pie crusts from pouches; unroll on work surface. Cut eight 3 1/2-inch rounds from each crust.
  • 2 Place 1 unbaked cookie in center of each of 8 of the rounds; top each with 1 fruit snack. Brush edge of each crust with water. Top with remaining 8 rounds. Press edges together with fork to seal. Brush top of each with water; sprinkle with sugar.
  • 3 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth, adding milk until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle glaze over pies; let stand until set, about 30 minutes.

470 calories for one cookie!!!!! Its not worth it!!!!

Fruit snacks work in this recipe, but preserves or pie filling works much better. Give the cookies a better texture and taste. Also for a twist try miniature snickers bars.

These were ok, but once I tweaked the recipe a bit they went over much better. Instead of the fruit snacks I used preserves. I also brushed the pies with an egg wash before putting them in the oven and then sprinkled with sugar instead of using the icing. Great breakfast pastry!

My family did not love this recipe. Maybe I'll try one of the chocolate varieties...

I used a strawberry preserve instead. I used sugar cookie mix instead.
