Ingredients

cup all-purpose flour

cup whole wheat flour

cup sugar
1/4
cup chopped fresh chives

teaspoons baking powder

teaspoons grated lemon peel

teaspoon dried basil or oregano leaves

teaspoon salt

cup milk
1/3
cup margarine or butter, melted
1
egg, slightly beaten

Directions

  1. 1 Heat oven to 400°F. Grease 12 muffin cups or line with paper baking cups. In large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, chives, baking powder, lemon peel, basil and salt; mix well.
  2. 2 Add milk, margarine and egg; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full.
  3. 3 Bake at 400°F. for 13 to 18 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately remove from pans. Serve warm.
