slices (3/4 oz each) American cheese, each cut into 6 strips

can (8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

wooden corn dog sticks

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Slit hot dogs to within 1/2 inch of ends; insert 3 strips of cheese into each slit.
  • 2 Separate dough into triangles. Wrap dough triangle around each hot dog. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, cheese side up.
  • 3 Bake at 375°F. for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 4 Insert 1 stick in each crescent dog.

Substitution: If using Pillsbury® Big & Flaky large refrigerated crescent dinner rolls, use large hot dogs and bake at 350°F. for 16 to 20 minutes.

This is a favorite style of Hot Dogs Baked With a Bread Wrap, made for my brother and I as children of a WWII Naval Veteran. My Mom began using the earliest canned refrigerated biscuits. She filled our first hot dogs with the sliced American Cheese Slices. She went forth filling the hot dogs with various flavored mashed potatoes, potato salad, even a spicy dip using Velveeta and spicy tomatoes. When my son was in Boy Scouts, we worked on this version with the American Cheese Slices, then wrapped in Crescent Dough cooked in a Dutch Oven over a campfire - until the dough is golden brown. Wh

These look even cooler when you use the breadstick dough and spiral the dough down the hot dogs :-) and *bonus* you can do 2 packs of hotdogs with one tube of breadsticks!

I use to make these a long time ago when my kids where little they really wonderful easy to make and a great meal idea. I also use to make them for parties and everyone loved loved it.
