Ingredients

cup strong brewed coffee, room temperature

1/2 teaspoons packed dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)

cloves garlic, finely chopped

beef tenderloin steaks, 1/2 inch thick (6 oz each)

Directions

  1. 1 In large resealable food-storage plastic bag, mix coffee, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, red pepper and garlic. Add steaks; seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate to marinate 8 hours, turning occasionally.
  2. 2 Heat gas or charcoal grill. Remove steaks from marinade, discarding marinade. Carefully brush oil on grill rack. Place steaks on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 6 minutes, turning once, until of desired doneness.
