Serving tricks to make desserts shine

Dessert is a treat no matter how it's served. Make any dessert a-MAZ-ing with super-easy tricks and toppings.

Whipped cream. Pie, cake, ice-cream sundaes, coffee cake and even lattes are kicked up with whipped cream. Boost the flavor by adding one of these flavor extracts or syrups to the cream before whipping it: vanilla, almond, raspberry, mint or Kahlua. Sprinkle whipped cream with nutmeg or colored sugar for an extra pop to your dessert.

Nuts. Chopped, sliced or slivered, nuts add flavor, crunch and an upscale look to desserts. If you serve dessert with whipped cream, gently sprinkle finely chopped nuts over the top.

Chocolate. Use a cheese grater to grate dark or milk chocolate. Sprinkle the chocolate over ice cream desserts and over frosted cakes, cupcakes or cookies.

Syrup. Warm maple syrup or honey is delicious over pecan pie, nut bars, baklava or Bananas Foster. Try raspberry or strawberry pancake syrup  or ice cream topping drizzled over a berry pie, tart or shortcake. Hot fudge sauce or chocolate ice cream syrup is wonderful when drizzled back and forth over ice cream desserts, pudding pie or brownies.

See?  We told you it was easy.
