Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white vanilla baking chips (from 12-oz bag)
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • 2 small orange gumdrops, cut into 12 small triangular pieces
  • 2 bags (12 oz each) semisweet chocolate chips
  • Assorted holiday sprinkles and nonpareils, as desired
  • Pull-and-peel licorice twists, pulled apart and cut into six 2-inch strips
  • 12 blue M&M’s® chocolate candies
  • 3 chocolate peanut butter bell candies, unwrapped and cut in half
  • 2 red fruit slice candies (wedges), cut into strips

Steps

  • 1
Spray two large cookie sheets with cooking spray; line with cooking parchment paper or waxed paper.
  • 2
In small microwavable bowl, microwave white vanilla baking chips uncovered on High 30 seconds; stir. Continue microwaving and stirring in 10-second increments until chips are just melted and mixture is smooth.
  • 3
Drop teaspoonfuls of melted white vanilla baking chips onto one of the lined cookie sheets to make twelve 1 1/4 inch circles. If necessary, gently tap cookie sheet onto countertop to smooth tops. Working quickly, top circles with candy eyeballs and orange gumdrop noses to make snowmen faces. Let stand about 20 minutes or until set.
  • 4
In medium microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Continue microwaving in 15-second increments, stirring well after each, until chips are just melted and mixture is smooth.
  • 5
Pour melted chocolate chips onto remaining lined cookie sheet. Use offset spatula to spread evenly into 13x10-inch rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick. Let stand 5 minutes. Working quickly and using photo as a guide, decorate the bark. Top bark with sprinkles, as desired. Place snowmen faces in a random pattern on melted chocolate. Add licorice and chocolate candies to make earmuffs on some of the faces. Add bell candy hats and fruit candy wedge scarfs to the remaining faces.
  • 6
Refrigerate uncovered about 30 minutes or until firm. To serve, cut into pieces.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

  • tip 1
Since all microwaves vary, it's important to microwave your chips until just starting to melt, then stir until smooth to avoid overheating.
  • tip 2
Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray before adding parchment paper to hold parchment in place and keep it from sliding around when assembling bark.
  • tip 3
Use brown miniature M&M's® candies in place of candy eyeballs, if desired.
  • tip 4
We recommend having all decorating ingredients prepped and ready before melting the chocolate chips so the process goes smoothly. You don't want the chocolate to set up before you can add all the fun toppings!
  • tip 5
Package pieces of bark in gift bags to give to teachers, friends or as party favors.
  • tip 6
Bark keeps best when stored covered in the refrigerator. Before cutting to serve, let bark stand at room temperature for 15 minutes. Use a sharp knife to make cuts.
