This hearty and spicy chili is made with ground beef, Italian pork sausage and Progresso™ chickpeas — a satisfying slow-cooked dinner for the family. MORE+ LESS-

Ingredients

lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2
lb bulk Italian pork sausage
1
medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)

can (28 oz) whole tomatoes, undrained, cut up
1
can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2
teaspoons chili powder
1
to 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1
teaspoon sugar
1
teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1
can (15 oz) spicy chili beans, undrained
1
can (15 oz) Progresso™ chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained, rinsed
Sour cream, if desired
Sliced green onions, if desired

    In 10-inch skillet, cook beef, sausage and onion over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef and sausage are thoroughly cooked; drain.

    Spray 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In cooker, mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except sour cream and green onions.

    Cover; cook on Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours. Top individual servings with sour cream and green onions.

Expert Tips

Use kitchen scissors to cut the tomatoes just after adding them to the slow cooker while they’re still on top and easy to reach.
