Prosciutto Sandwiches

tablespoons mayonnaise

tablespoons sun-dried tomato sauce and spread (from 10-oz. jar)

(6-inch) baguette hard rolls, halved lengthwise

oz. shaved prosciutto

medium fresh basil leaves

(1/4-inch-thick) slices fresh mozzarella cheese

    In small bowl, combine mayonnaise and sun-dried tomato spread; blend well. Spread about 1 tablespoon mayonnaise mixture on each roll half.

    On bottom halves of rolls, layer prosciutto, basil and cheese. Cover with top halves of rolls.

Expert Tips

  • Prosciutto is an Italian ham that is air-dried, seasoned and salt-cured but not smoked. It is pressed until it is dense and full-flavored. Traditionally, ultra-thin slices of prosciutto are served with melon or figs as a first course. Look for prosciutto in the deli section of the grocery store or at an Italian market.
  • Serve these rolls with a salad of romaine hearts tossed with Caesar dressing.
