Classic Guacamole

Ingredients

large ripe avocados, peeled, pitted and mashed
1/4
cup finely chopped onion

tablespoons lemon juice

to 5 drops hot pepper sauce, if desired

to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4
teaspoon salt
Dash pepper

medium tomato, chopped
2
tablespoons finely chopped green chiles or 1 small chile, chopped

    In blender container or food processor bowl with metal blade, combine all ingredients except tomato and green chiles; cover and blend until smooth. Place in medium bowl.

    Stir in tomato and green chiles. Cover; refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving to blend flavors. Serve with tortilla or corn chips.

  • To serve guacamole in avocado shells, cut unpeeled avocados in half lengthwise. Remove pits; scoop fruit from shells with spoon. Prepare recipe as directed above. Fill shells with dip; refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Bacon Guacamole: Stir in 2 slices crisply cooked bacon, crumbled, with the tomato and green chiles. Creamy Guacamole: Add 1/4 cup mayonnaise or sour cream.
