These caramelly cookies are wonderful.
To soften brown sugar that has hardened, place it in a baking pan in a 350°F. oven for 5 minutes, or on a microwave-safe plate in a microwave oven on LOW for 2 minutes. the sugar will soften, but it must be used immediately or it will soon harden again. To prevent rehardening, place it in an airtight container and add a slice of fresh apple.
