Bratwurst Tacos

(6-inch) soft corn tortillas

medium tomato, chopped

tablespoons chopped red onion

tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

smoked bratwurst

cup purchased refrigerated or frozen guacamole, thawed

cup sour cream

    Heat grill. Wrap tortillas in foil; set aside. In medium bowl, combine tomato, onion, cilantro and salt; mix well. Set aside.

    When ready to grill, place bratwurst on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 5 to 8 minutes or until bratwurst is thoroughly heated, turning frequently.

    During last 3 to 4 minutes of cooking time, place tortilla packet on grill; heat until tortillas are warm, turning foil packet once.
  • 4
    For each serving, stack 2 tortillas; place 1 grilled bratwurst on each tortilla stack. Top with tomato mixture, guacamole and sour cream.

Expert Tips

  • To broil bratwurst, place on broiler pan; broil 4 to 6 inches from heat using times above as a guide, turning frequently. During last 3 to 4 minutes of cooking time, place tortilla packet on broiler pan to heat, turning once.
  • Look for guacamole in the refrigerated or freezer section of the grocery store. If you use frozen guacamole, thaw it before use.
  • Flour tortillas can be used in place of corn tortillas. Use one flour tortilla for each bratwurst.
  • This recipe is a fun fusion of German and Mexican flavors; serve it with German and/or Mexican beers.
