cooked bratwurst (about 4 oz each), cut into 1/2-inch slices

cans (14 oz each) sauerkraut, drained

cup packed brown sugar

hot dog or bratwurst buns, split

    In 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients except buns.

    Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 to 5 hours. Spoon bratwurst mixture into buns.

Expert Tips

  • Be sure to use fully-cooked bratwursts rather than fresh. The juice that would be released from fresh brats during cooking would add too much liquid to the mixture.
