Ingredients

4
large peel-on bananas
1/2
cup miniature marshmallows
1/2
cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1/2
cup chopped nuts
1/2
cup caramel bits
Neapolitan ice cream
Candy sprinkles

Steps

  • 1 Heat gas or electric grill to medium heat or oven to 400°F. Cut 4 sheets of heavy-duty foil large enough to completely wrap each banana.
  • 2 On clean surface or cutting board, line up 4 large peel-on bananas on their sides. Cut bananas lengthwise down center through peel, being careful not to cut all the way through. Carefully peel back and open banana to create a boat-like opening in center for filling.
  • 3 Stuff each banana with 2 tablespoons miniature marshmallows, 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons chopped nuts and 2 tablespoons caramel bits, using more or less to taste.
  • 4 Place each stuffed banana on sheet of foil. Fold sides of foil up and loosely close with seam at top.
  • 5 Place foil packs on preheated grill or in oven. Cook 12 to 15 minutes or until bananas are thoroughly heated. Remove from grill or oven. Carefully open packs. Serve banana splits in foil topped with ice cream and candy sprinkles. (Do not eat banana peel; peel was kept on to help hold in the filling.)
