tablespoon margarine or butter, softened

tablespoon honey

teaspoon cinnamon

    GRILL DIRECTIONS: Heat grill. Cut 18x12-inch sheet of heavy-duty foil. Place apple slices on foil. In small bowl, combine margarine, honey and cinnamon. Spoon margarine mixture over apple slices; sprinkle with raisins. Wrap packet securely with double-fold seals, allowing room for heat expansion.

    When ready to grill, place packet on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals; cover grill. Cook 10 to 15 minutes or until apples are tender, turning packet over once. Stir before serving.

Tips

Expert Tips

Firm, ripe pears can be used in place of the apples. Overripe pears will become mushy when heated; be sure to start with just-ripe pears.

Dried cranberries can be used in place of raisins.

An apple corer/slicer is a handy tool that makes quick work of separating an apple into snack wedges, and leaves little to clean up.

Serve this side dish with meat such as pork, turkey or chicken, or serve it as a warm fruit accompaniment at breakfast.
