Strudel, the German word for whirlpool, is a pastry made of many layers of very thin dough spread with filling, rolled up and baked until crisp and golden. Strudel is popular in central Europe, especially in Germany and Austria. The frozen phyllo dough in our recipe makes strudel easy to prepare.
Follow the directions on the package for thawing and handling the dough. Be sure to keep the phyllo dough covered while you work on the recipe.
For easy cleanup, line the baking pan with foil, then spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray.
