I am 100 percent a creature of habit: I’ve worn and replaced the same Converse low-tops since the seventh grade (if we were still keeping track, I think I’d just be finished with twenty-sixth grade). I park in the same part of the lot every time I go to Target. And I eat the same oatmeal-and-yogurt desk breakfast at work every morning.
Boring? No way. I just know what I like!
But even with the office AC cranked so low I can’t feel my nose, hot oatmeal can be a little much during the summer. So I’ve given my usual yogurt and oats a fridge-friendly, snack-worthy twist. And these DIY overnight oatmeal bars are just the thing:
The mixture magically firms up into chewy DIY granola bars in the fridge overnight, giving me days’ worth of grab-and-go breakfasts and filling afternoon snacks. (White chocolate drizzle optional, but definitely encouraged.)
And I’m not the only one making my old favorites even better this summer: original Yoplait yogurt now has 25 percent less sugar, so these DIY bars just got even more wholesome.
Try some of my favorite yogurt and mix-in flavor combos, and you’ll be hooked, too:
- Mountain Blueberry yogurt + pecan chips
- French Vanilla yogurt + cinnamon and raisins
- Cherry Orchard yogurt + mini chocolate chips
