Weekend Roundup: Coffee Break Inspiration

Blueberry Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake

At Pillsbury, one of our goals is to help you take a step back, celebrate everyday moments and see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Last weekend I experienced a moment myself. It was a perfect fall day – sunny, crisp air – and I was doing something out of the ordinary: sitting with a piping hot cup of coffee in a serenely quiet room. I call this out-of-the-ordinary because I have a very busy toddler. Leisurely coffees are a rarity.

So what did I do with this morning downtime? I opened the windows, turned on a favorite album and sat down with my computer. My objective: declutter. Next thing you know, I’m sifting through old footage of my son taking his first penguin-waddle steps across my living room floor. My eyes immediately misted. I was hit head-on with all the changes he’s gone through over the last three years: first smile, first steps, first words, first, “I love you, Mom.” It was extraordinary in the ordinary, and all it took was a good cup of coffee and a little time.

I’m leaving you with a few coffee-inspired ideas for this weekend. I hope that at least one gifts you with an everyday moment of your own.

Cereal Milk Latte

One of our Makers just posted a recipe for a Cereal Milk Latte using Count Chocula Cereal. Brilliant. With all the cereal varieties out there, the options are endless. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte or Lucky Charms Latte, anyone?

Milk Frother

I get a little queasy when I run the numbers on my coffee-shop spending. Don’t get me wrong – I relish a good fancy coffee. But that doesn’t mean my wallet can withstand one every day. This battery-operated milk frother is an affordable way to bring the coffee shop experience home.

Blueberry Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake

Who doesn’t like the smell of warm cinnamon rolls on a weekend morning? This blueberry coffee cake recipe comes from one of this year’s Bake-Off Contest finalists. Leave it out all day, and I guarantee it will be devoured.
