My family loves appetizers and finger foods. In fact, on more than one occasion, we’ve gotten together and formed a meal completely around appetizers, both savory and sweet. What can be better than a meal of little bites? 

Made with Pillsbury® crescent rolls, pinwheels are a popular appetizer idea. But what about turning them into a sweet treat? In this version, an orange-sweetened cream cheese is spread on crescent rolls, then rolled up and cut into delicious dessert bites. These would even make a great addition to a brunch table. 

Here’s how you make them: 

You will need cream cheese, orange zest, orange extract, sugar and 1 tube of crescent rolls.

In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese and sugar. Add the orange zest and orange extract; beat it all together.

Open the crescent rolls, and separate into 2 rectangles. Pinch the perforations together with your fingers. 

Spread the cream cheese filling on each rectangle. 

Starting on the short side, roll up the dough. Cut each rectangle into 8 slices.

Place each slice cut side up on a baking sheet, and bake until golden brown. Once they are cool, top with a simple powdered sugar glaze and serve. Delicious!
