This recipe makes a HUGE pot. It was more of a stew than a chili, but tasty all the same. It was too spicy for our family (even without the cayenne pepper) so we plan on cutting back on the chili powder and cumin next time around. A delicious and easy recipe for a cold winter night.

The first time I made this it was too spicy, so I removed the onion, cumin, chili powder and ground red pepper (cayenne) and it was a wonderful mild bean soup.
