Expert Tips

Chunks of meat and spicy seasonings give this chili a Texas touch. You'll want to have bowls of your favorite chili toppers such as sour cream, shredded Cheddar cheese and sliced green onions ready and waiting for the first steaming serving. Don't forget to bake up some refrigerated cornbread twists, which are perfect for chili dipping and dunking.

Here is a tip...If you dont like beans..or believe they dont belong in a recipe...DONT add them..its simple..There are no food police that will knock on your door if you leave them out because your idea of chili is bean free or you dont like them...Another tip..if you dont like a spice you can also leave it out and even add ones you do like too!

Goodness. I started making crockpot Chili in Texas learning from an awesome Texas cook. She used beans. Just like her Momma taught her. Both are native Texans. Besides. It is pretty common knowledge that most Texans claim that real Texas Chili doesn't have beans. However, it is also common knowledge that a cowboy's chuckwagons always had beans and were not very li

Ummm, it's not Texas chili if it has beans. Texas chili comes from a Mexican stew of chilis, tomatoes and spices, to which the cowboys added beef. THAT is Texas chili, beef, chilis, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and spices. That is all. Beans are weird, texturally, in chili, and just don't belong.

AND...REAL texans whine a lot about beans in chili. This is JUST another recipe with someone's idea of how to make a chili. I did not realize texans were so uptight...geez just call the Texas Rangers and have the recipe-maker arrested - would be just as crazy as whining about it.
