@Glo1534, try baking the pie without the allspice,and add a pinch of nutmeg. you should be able to detect the sweet potatoe taste then. :-)

I've made this pie and it tastes better with fresh sweet potatoes rather than canned ones! Boil 3 sweet potatoes, more if making more pies, and mix ingredients. Hope this helps!!! Happy holidays!!

I make this recipe every Thanksgiving & Christmas it was even my grandfather's. He made it almost every Sunday when we could get the sweet potatoes.

This pie is very good, but it tastes exactly like pumpkin pie. I need a pie that is light and airy and has a definite sweet potato flavor. This pie is very easy to make and everyone loved it but all agreed that it was exactly like pumpkin pie.

added a trini flavour to this pie, in trinidad we do these types of pie not as a dessert but a main course. Did it with sweet potato fressh,minused the pie shell and topped it with grounded crix biscuits,cheese and brown sugar. If anyone wants to try a slice. I'm making it again for Christmas. Yes it tasted that good.

This pie tastes great! I did, however, do one thing differently: I substituted splenda in place of brown sugar so it is fewer calories but I don't know by how much. It was very easy to make and I found that using canned sweet potatoes tasted quite good. Thanks for a wonderful recipe (mine was with the lemon for lack of sherry)%0d%0a from Tampa, Fla.
