Super Easy Slow Cooker Lasagna

lb bulk Italian sausage

cans (18 oz each) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ fire roasted tomato cooking sauce
3
cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1
container (15 oz) part-skim ricotta cheese

uncooked lasagna noodles

  • 1 In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink; drain. Stir in cooking sauce.
  • 2 In medium bowl, mix 2 cups of the mozzarella cheese and the ricotta cheese. (Refrigerate remaining mozzarella cheese while lasagna cooks.)
  • 3 Spray 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Spoon 1 cup of the sausage mixture into slow cooker; top with 5 noodles, broken into pieces to fit. Top with half of the cheese mixture and 1 cup of the sausage mixture. Top with 5 noodles, remaining cheese mixture and 1 cup of the sausage mixture. Top with remaining 5 noodles and remaining sausage mixture, covering noodles completely.
  • 4 Cover and cook on Low heat setting 4 to 5 hours or until noodles are tender. Sprinkle top of lasagna with remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Cover and let stand about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cut into pieces or spoon out to serve.

Just tried it. Awesome reviews from everyone here! Added a can of Italian style diced tomatoes to the Progresso sauce and cream cheese, chopped spinach, and an egg to the ricotta cheese mixture. Fantastic and super easy

I grew up having Italian relatives that moved to the United States "from the old country" so I was raised eating traditional Italian foods that were made entirely from scratch and I got rather spoiled. I've thus far made this recipe twice. The first time I made it as instructed but it didn't have an authentic Italian flavor so I made a few changes to this recipe to make it better. I made this using our 7 qt. slow cooker, incidentally. (1) I used a 45 oz. jar of Prego Super Mushroom pasta sauce because of its authentic Italian flavor (2) I used a large container of whole milk Ricotta Cheese

Used tomato sauce, spiced up lots. Don't double the noodles, gooey, doughy. Added can of progresso tomato bisque as everyone said it needed more liquid. Added extra ricotta, and Yum. Hubby had 3 helpings and he hates everything. So this is a success! I just used what was on hand. Better the second day. 3 1/2 stars for the adjustments needed.

Wow! I have never made lasagna in slow cook. Totally easy, and still quite yummy. Whole family loved it! Was wonderful with italian turk sausage. One trick i use is mix one beaten egg in with cheese mixture and it is fluffy.

Did not like it at all in its current form. Needed extra sauce, water, and seasonings. Will make slow cooker lasagna again but not in this form.
