Fruit snacks work in this recipe, but preserves or pie filling works much better. Give the cookies a better texture and taste. Also for a twist try miniature snickers bars.

These were ok, but once I tweaked the recipe a bit they went over much better. Instead of the fruit snacks I used preserves. I also brushed the pies with an egg wash before putting them in the oven and then sprinkled with sugar instead of using the icing. Great breakfast pastry!

My family did not love this recipe. Maybe I'll try one of the chocolate varieties...

I used a strawberry preserve instead. I used sugar cookie mix instead.

I used sugar free red raspberry preserves and not the fruit snacks.

The pies leaked a little but outherwise no problem making them. Easy and fun to make although it took me and my wife about 20 min. to prepare. WOW. VERY GOOD.
