I agree with most about the calories and would be good with just pretzel crust or graham cracker/pretzel crust. Because this is a Pillsbury recipe site, they had to use the crust or there wouldn't be anything 'Pillsbury' about it! I may experiment with fresh strawberries and thickened strawberry glaze, using Splenda.

I have been making a similar recipe since 1987 when it came out as "Jell-O I'm Not Squares". The only difference is that you use a graham cracker crust and not so much sugar. I imagine that this is why the calorie count is so high. My recipe only calls for 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of milk and 12 oz. Cool Whip. I think that I may try this with the pretzel crust and just use my recipe. I make this in a 13 x 9 pan and double the Jello and strawberries. It is really a great dessert.

The first time I made this pie everyone agreed the pretzel crust was the only crust needed. I've been making it without the other crust ever since to rave reviews. The cream cheese filling made enough for two pies so I half it now if I only need one.

Would like to make this, but has anyone else noticed that the calorie count is listed as 890 calories per serving? Can that even be right? I would love to hear that this is a misprint, because the pie sounds so good

This was a hit on Easter Sunday! I made it without the pie crust and it was great. I didn't do the decoration on top so I ended up having a lot of filling and couldn't pour all the jell-o over the top.

Made it with a homemade crust. Really tasty. I put it in a 10" deep dish pie pan and found there was way too much cream cheese filling. I ended up making two pies instead.
