Made the soup before I read the reviews - just so happens I too used low sodium chicken broth, garlic powder and no bacon. I used a 14 oz can of broth, 1 lb of potatoes and a heaping cup of corn. Excellent soup - will make again!!

I made this with just a few changes. I eliminated the cilantro (we're in the "cilantro tastes like soap) camp and omitted the red bell pepper since my husband won't eat them. I also used chicken base + water instead of broth. Honestly, I didn't even notice the sodium content - yikes.
Overall, though, I thought it was a nice consistency and certainly very filling. No complaints from my four-year-old, so this is one I'll keep in my "make again" file.

Soup was so-so. Pretty much all you could taste was the cilantro and peppers.

I also used reduced sodium broth and thought this was too good to be only 7 grams of fat per serving. Great recipe.

Yes, this one tastes like it too good to be light! Souper dooper! I used pre cooked bacon. I use soup base paste...much less salt, so I add the bacon!

Awesome chowder using reduced sodium broth, garlic powder and sugar substitute. Easy to season to taste. I used the precooked bacon--less cleanup!

This soup was delicious. I used reduced sodium chicken broth and then added about a cup of cubed ham, minced garlic flakes and no bacon, and the sodium content, I believe, is much reduced. Add a good wheat bread and a salad and we had a great dinner!

With a few tweaks you could reduce the sodium in this recipe. Use a low sodium chicken broth, use garlic powder not garlic salt and don't use the bacon at all.

Sounds delicious and I love these 2 serving recipes. This does have a lot of sodium, even more than some canned soups. The bulk of it must be coming from the chicken broth. I am going to use my homemade broth seasoned with herbs.

this sounds yummy, but nearly 1400 mgs. of sodium per serving would send my blood pressure through the ceiling.. :-(
