You don't eat this everyday of your life! The sodium target should be regarded as just a guideline. Minor excursions into the "Red Zone" can be accommodated on other days of lesser consumption. We are looking for moderation here, not slavish adherence to a maxim. Besides, it is an interesting method!

To make this more kid friendly I use the veggie combo of cauliflower, carrots and broccoli and then grind it up in the food processor before adding it. I also use cheddar cheese soup in place of cream of potato. They love it and I still have the full complement of veggies on board.

Canned soups are what have the high sodium! I make a dish similar to this one with chicken -- and use the LOW sodium / fat free Cream of Chicken soup OR Cream of Mushroom. If you really wanted a potato, you could microwave one and chop it up and add it. Just mixed frozen vegetables with your OWN seasonings would probably be healthier also. It can STILL be very tasty with little effort. Thanks for the ideas.

I agree with a number of responses - too much salt and too much fat in a lot of the receipes. This is not one I will make - I try to keep our salt intake to below 1500mg per day so this one is out for sure

Use only one can of tuna, fat free milk, whole wheat bread crumbs and either cut the butter in half or just don't use it. I don't and it's just as good. Secret? Add crumbs to top, then spray with spray butter or Olive Oil PAM!! Works!

I love tuna and this sounds good but does have a lot of sodium in it. I can always find canned tuna but wasn't able to find the frozen Green Giant medley the recipe called for. Will have to regroup.

I really don't care for tuna all that much. I think I'll adapt this to chicken instead. Should turn out much better I think. Plus I can control how much chicken to put into it.

Recipes should be translated to use the vacuum packed tuna instead of tuna in water. Canned tuna is hard to find, and so messy.

"Cover with plastic wrap" - which now proven to cause cancer...? Just go with a glass top for the dish. Otherwise, I'm going to make this tonight!...
