Expert Tips

French vanilla cake mix is a great stand-in for the white cake mix.

For Super Snickerdoodles, shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and place them 3 inches apart on the cookie sheet; bake 12 to 14 minutes. You’ll get about 26 large cookies.

This sweet little cookie with the whimsical name originated in 19th-century New England and has become an American classic. In this recipe, cake mix provides convenience to the traditional version, but the method of rolling the dough in sugar and cinnamon before baking has been kept.

I thought this recipe worked very well. I did add some cinnamon into the dough. I also tried this recipe with chocolate cake mix (without the cinnamon sugar). It was delicious either way, and a very simple recipe!

could you use yellow cake mix instead and get the same result, taste wise?

good flavor but I like my cookies to spread out a little more flat not to stay puffed up so much.

Ever since I found this recipe in 2010, I have made MANY dozens. I have given them as presents, rewards.. and just because. My family LOVES them and requests them throughout the year! WE LOVE THESE! I can make a batch in 20 to 25 minutes - highly recommend! YUM!!

They're okay for cookies that take like 5 minutes to prep. They didn't taste quite like snickerdoodles in my opinion. Maybe extra cinnamon would've helped. Also, I somehow came out with only 25 cookies.
